The ABI 3900 synthesizer is designed for production-level environments, where the need for  flexibility is high, tolerance for down-time is low, and bench space is limited.

High throughput
• Produces up to 288 primerlength oligos at 40 and 200 nmol scales in less than 10 hours (six runs of 48).
• Capable of making 12 oligos at 40 and 200 nmol scales in less than one hour producing high-quality oligonucleotides.
Range of scales
• Ideal for synthesizing short primers and probes as
well as long oligonucleotides (> 50-mer) at scales of 40 nmol, 0.2 µmol, and 1 µmol.
• Can synthesize all three scales in one run.
Controls:
• A PC controller allows you to transfer sequences, functions, and cycles to the ABI 3900 synthesizer automatically.
• The user interface enables full-cycle editing and modification.
